We had a boat trip booked from Split booked earlier in the week but it was cancelled due to high winds and I’m so glad as it was much easier to get to the islands and blue cave from Hvar!

  I booked this tour with Kabina Boats. Ivona was our guide and together with our captain we had a lot of fun over Hvar nearby islands. They tried to avoid... read more the crowd making alternative routes. She was always checking on us and offering to take pictures.
For Blue Cave you have to pay extra 100kn to get into and usually there is a big line. She bought our tickets in advance and we went back later when our numbers were close to be called. The cave is beautiful but you only stay there for 2~3 min. It's very quick and you can't swim. The other places are fantastic. The downside was that we got to the island to have lunch after 5 so didnt have much time to enjoy the beach there. We ended up eating at Toto's. Their menu is a bit more expensive then on Hvar Island. I would not recommend eating there. Take some sandwiches and snack with you and you'll be fine. They did provide water and beers during the boat tour.

  We were undecided whether to book a day tour on the water, and ultimately are very glad we did. The blue grotto and green cave were better than advertised, and... read more we really enjoyed the stops to check out small islands. The swimming opportunities at the small beaches we stopped at were very enjoyable as well. In October the water was getting a little cooler, but still fine to swim.
The only part we could skip was stopping at Palmizana and eating there. The food at the restaurant was not at all good and I think at that point people were ready to get back to Hvar.
Overall definitely worth doing, maybe bring some snacks and skip the meal, or hopefully the tour operator could find somewhere else to get lunch.
